01 Hideaway Included

Every villa is read under the same seven categories. This is this one, in full.

The Villa for a Group

Sleeping
Ten bedrooms, all en suite, kings and twin-shares, twenty of you. Air conditioning that heats as well as cools, a television in each, and a coffee machine for the first cup, in bed or out on the stoep. A staff suite of its own means a nanny or your own chef can come too, without taking one of the ten.
The long table
One table in The Barn that all twenty sit at, which is most of the reason to come with twenty.
Flow
Stoeps, barn, pools, gym, pavilion and court. You share a room only when you choose to.
Design
Its original architecture honoured, with everything added kept inside the old buildings: vaulted timber ceilings, an antler chandelier above the entrance stair, mustard velvet in the lounge, green cabinetry in the dining room, a green marble counter at the wine bar. The bathrooms are each their own, botanical wallpaper and marble in one, checkerboard and gold in another. Nothing in it reads as rented.

The Setting

Seclusion
A working wine farm ringed by mountains, vines and olive groves. Far enough out that town is somewhere you decide to go, and five minutes away when you do.
The view
Mountains on three sides, and the light going gold from four.
Quiet
Farm quiet. Most afternoons the loudest thing on it is the court.
The land
Vines and olive groves, orchards and a herb garden, two eco dams, koi and lily ponds, and a weeping willow over the garden pond.
The covered terrace, looking over the pool
Sun loungers under the poolside pavilion

The Padel Court

Private
A private court inside the farm with its own clubhouse. Only your group plays.
The court underfoot
A glass court on green turf, sunk into the garden inside honey-coloured sandstone walls, with flower beds and young cypress along the coping and floodlights curving over each end.
Upkeep
Kept daily, alongside the vines and the pools.
Sound
A sound system wired into the court itself. Whatever is playing plays courtside.
Between sets
A heated pool a few steps from the court, the clubhouse behind it, and a lounge suite in the shade. Whoever is not playing watches from the water.
The view from it
Under the Franschhoek mountains, with the stone clubhouse at one end of the court and the peaks rising straight behind it, so the whole valley is behind every point. Our founder has walked it.

The Kitchen

The kitchen
A kitchen built to cook for twenty. The pizza oven outside and the stone braai in the dining room for the nights nobody wants a menu.
Eating out
Some of the best tables in the country are in the village, close enough to go on the day you decide to.
The wine
A working wine farm, two cellars, and a V-collection tasting on request. The shelves hold more than the farm's own: Chilean and French bottles alongside the South African.

The Relaxation

Water
Four pools, a jacuzzi, and the largest untouched eco dam in the country.
The gym
A full gym with reformer pilates, and a cold-water plunge. A training week, if you want one.
Sauna and pavilion
An infra-red sauna that looks at the mountains, and a yoga pavilion set apart from the rest.
Sleep, and room to disappear
Dark rooms, and grounds big enough to lose an afternoon in without crossing anyone else's.

The Service on site

The staff
Butler and concierge, daily housekeeping, laundry and turndown. The staff live on the farm.
The grounds
The grounds are kept for walking. Paths through the vines and the olives, past the walled garden and the ponds, and the pools, gym and court looked after with them.
What nobody has to do
A staffed estate. Nobody in your group carries a key.

The Feeling

Arrival
The farm road, the mountains, the vines. The drive in does the work.
The shape of a day
Court and clubhouse by day, the sauna or the gym after, the cellar when the sun goes.
Collected, not decorated
Artworks, lamps, books and objects brought back from everywhere, each with a place of its own: a chess table in the lounge, green armchairs at the bar, stone fireplaces in the living room and the sitting room. The rooms were filled over time rather than furnished at once.

Anything we should know

Fewer nights than a full week, or a different start day, go here. Optional. Whatever you tell us here is answered in our first reply, rather than writing back to ask.

Where to reach you

Either one is enough. We reply to whichever you leave.

Leaving your details is your approval to share them with the portfolio or owner that holds the villa, once you confirm you want to go ahead. Nobody else, and no mailing list.

Referred by a club, a coach or a content creator

Optional. We tell them their introduction arrived, and when it becomes a booking they share in it.

Why there is no cookie banner

This site sets no cookies, so there is nothing on your device to agree to and nothing to close. The practical questions about Paddakloof

Why book through you?

The villas are looked after by people who are particular about who they work with, and they work with us. That takes time to earn and it is why this collection grows slowly, a villa at a time.

You pay the villa's own rate, and the week costs no more for our being in it: our commission comes out of what the villa already charges. The Concierge, Driver, Chef and Coach are quoted alongside it as one price, and we are on call for them all week. Every enquiry comes to us, so the person who answers is the person who arranges it.

Is there a security deposit at Paddakloof?

The villa sets its deposit and it is written into your agreement before you book. Ask us and we will tell you the figure for your dates.

When do we arrive, and can we book a shorter stay?

Any day, minimum 3 nights. Three nights is the shortest stay it takes, in the quieter weeks and subject to what the villa has open. Tell us your dates and we will confirm with the villa.

Which airport do we fly into for Paddakloof?

Cape Town International (CPT), about fifty minutes away by road. Add the Driver and you are met at arrivals and driven in.

What comes with the villa, and what can I add at Paddakloof?

The whole villa, yours alone, 10 suites for 20. A concierge comes with the villa. Add a driver, a chef and a coach and we plan the week and come back with one price.

What is added to the rate at Paddakloof?

It differs by villa. Some quote the week with the cleaning and the taxes inside it; others charge cleaning separately, or tax on the booking fee. We confirm this villa's lines before we quote, so the figure we come back with is the figure you pay.

Checked 15 September 2026

When do I pay for Paddakloof, and what if we have to cancel?

50% of the week confirms the booking and the other 50% is the balance before you arrive. The dates for both are on the booking form. Both payments are non-refundable. If you have to cancel or shorten, the portfolio tries to re-let the nights, and where it succeeds a refund for those nights is at the owner’s discretion, less a 3% charge for the work of rebooking. Extraordinary travel disruption is looked at case by case and still needs the owner’s agreement.

Does Paddakloof have its own padel court?

Yes. A private, floodlit glass court sunk into the garden of the farm in Franschhoek, with its own stone clubhouse, a sound system and a heated pool beside it, under the Franschhoek mountains. Our founder has walked it.
