The Villa for a Group
Sleeping, and who goes where
Five bedrooms across two villas for twelve people: Gable sleeps eight in two king en-suites and a loft with four three-quarter beds, and Vineyard sleeps four in two king en-suites. Each villa has two baby cribs and air conditioning throughout.
Kitchen & the long table
Each villa has its own full kitchen and dining table. Gable's kitchen opens onto a covered patio with a braai, and at Vineyard a double-sided fireplace warms the table.
The art gallery, and a room for meetings
The estate's art gallery shows a rotating collection of local artists and has a conference space inside it for meetings. Wifi runs throughout both villas.

The Setting
Seclusion & neighbour distance
Your group is the only one on the estate: twenty hectares between the Franschhoek and Drakenstein mountains. Each villa has its own driveway, parking and garden.
Nature, light & views
Vineyards run to the fence line, and the farm also has paddocks, an olive orchard, three dams and a river.
Quiet
The estate keeps quiet hours from six in the evening to six in the morning.

The Padel Court
Private, and only yours
The court sits in the open ground between the vineyard and the paddocks, with the mountains behind it. Rackets are provided.
The other courts and games
A basketball court, a boules court and a putting green sit on the same stretch of the farm as the padel court, and there is a ping pong table too.
Coaching, and who comes to the court
You can add coaching to your stay with top local pros we know personally, at an extra cost. Sessions are taught in English: drills, matchplay or a farm tournament, at the hours you choose.

The Kitchen
The chef, and the meals
The estate chef comes with your stay: breakfast every day, plus lunch or dinner, as you prefer. Soft drinks and local house wines are in the rate, with a premium wine list at an extra cost.
The wine, and what grows here
The estate makes its own Cap Classique, Rosé and Chardonnay with winemaker Etienne Louw, and presses its own olive oil. Eggs, herbs and vegetables come from the farm, and dinner can be served among the olive trees.
Local food, a short drive
Franschhoek village is under twenty minutes away and Boschendal fifteen, and a complimentary shuttle runs into the village. The team books your tables, with the estate's 20% concierge fee on anything booked off the farm.

The Relaxation
Sauna, ice bath and spa
An outdoor sauna, an ice bath and a jacuzzi are all in the rate, and each villa has a Kolkol wood-fired hot tub in its own garden. The estate has its own spa, with treatments booked and charged separately.
The pool
A heated organic eco pool with a shallow step and an outdoor shower. Beyond it, the farm has a swimming dam, a waterfall and fly fishing.
The gym, and the Pilates studio
A full gym with a Peloton, and a Pilates studio. You can add a personal trainer or a Pilates instructor at an extra cost.

The Service on Site
Who is on site
An estate manager, a hospitality manager, the head chef, butlers and gardeners look after you, with cleaning and laundry done daily. The estate guide runs the wine safari and the horse riding lessons, both at an extra cost.
The grounds, and security
The farm, the pools and the court are maintained every day, and security patrols run from half past six in the evening until six in the morning.
Who answers, day and night
On arrival you join a WhatsApp group with the estate. The hospitality team answers until nine in the evening, and a night manager after that.

The Feeling
A working wine farm
Oakvale is a working wine farm and feels like one. Horses, miniature ponies and donkeys live here, and the grounds hold a chapel and a maze.
Bikes, farm walks and archery
Electric bikes and quad bikes are included in the rate, and the estate offers farm walks, garden tours and archery.
The boma bar, and the outdoor cinema
You'll find the boma bar under the pines by the river, and the estate has its own outdoor cinema.

Questions about Oakvale Estate
Why book through Padel Hideaways?
The villas are looked after by people who are particular about who they work with, and they work with us. That takes time to earn and it is why this collection grows slowly, a villa at a time.
The rate is the villa's own, and booking with us adds nothing to it: our commission comes from within what the villa already charges. The Concierge, Driver, Chef and Coach are quoted alongside it as one price, and we are on call for them all week. Every enquiry comes to us, so the person who answers is the person who arranges it.
When do we arrive, and can we book a shorter stay?
Check-in can be any day, with a minimum of two nights. Tell us your dates and we will confirm with the estate.
Which airport do we fly into for Oakvale Estate?
Cape Town International (CPT), about an hour away by road. Add the Driver and you are met at arrivals and driven in.
What comes with the estate, and what can I add at Oakvale Estate?
The whole estate, yours alone, 4 suites for 12. A concierge and a chef come with the estate. Add a driver and a coach and we plan the week and come back with one price.
What is added to the rate at Oakvale Estate?
The week is €53,375, with the cleaning and taxes included.
Oakvale quotes them separately and either one gives you the run of the farm, but we quote the estate whole, for one group. Twelve of you across both villas is what the rate on this page covers.
Where does everyone sleep, exactly?
Four king en-suites, two in each villa. The fifth room is a loft above Gable with four three-quarter beds and no bathroom of its own, so whoever sleeps there uses the en-suites downstairs. It suits older children or close friends.
Can more than twelve of us come?
Not yet. Two tented villas, Water's Edge and Nature's Lookout, are being added to the farm. They take four each and will bring it to twenty. They are not built or priced into what we quote here, so twelve across the two villas is what this page covers.
Is anyone else on the farm while we are there?
No other guests. The manor house is not part of the booking, and the rest of the twenty hectares is yours.
What is not in the rate?
Spa treatments, padel coaching, horse riding, a personal trainer or Pilates instructor, a driver for the week, the wine safari and premium wines. Anything the estate books for you off the farm carries a 20% concierge fee. The sauna, ice bath, jacuzzi, gym, court and both hot tubs are in the rate.
