The Villa for a Group

Sleeping, and who goes where
The Homestead is yours alone, and its five bedrooms sleep a group of ten: two king rooms with four-poster beds on the ground floor, and three queen rooms upstairs under the thatch.
A bigger group
When your group outgrows five bedrooms, The Hazendal Hotel adds 34 rooms on the same estate. They run from 42 square metres, with a king bed or twins, to a Presidential Suite of 122. Tell us how many rooms you need in the trip plan, and we quote them with the Homestead.
The cinema, and rooms to meet in
The estate has a private 16-seat cinema and a choice of meeting and event rooms, the Grand Hall among them.

The Setting

A wine farm since 1699
Hazendal has been a wine farm since 1699, one of the oldest in South Africa, and the Homestead is its Cape Dutch manor house.
The gardens, and the view
The gardens around the villa were redesigned by the landscape designer Leon Kluge. The farm lies on the Bottelary Hills, looking across its own vineyards to the Stellenbosch mountains.
Stellenbosch and Cape Town, both close
Stellenbosch is about twenty-five minutes away by car, and the centre of Cape Town about thirty.

The Padel Court

Court time, reserved for your group
A stay at the Homestead comes with court time reserved for your group every day, enough to play morning and afternoon. The court is the estate's own, floodlit, in glass and black steel at the edge of the golf course, and open to hotel guests and visitors outside your hours.
Golf, on the same estate
An 18-hole par-3 golf course, a 270-metre driving range with 32 bays and a putting park share the estate with the court.
Coaching, and who comes to the court
You can add coaching to your stay with top local pros we know personally: Cape professionals with competition experience, who teach in English. Every coach we send has played with us or come recommended by someone we trust, and Hazendal has coaches of its own if you would rather use theirs.

The Kitchen

The chef, and the estate's restaurant
For the nights you want a chef at the villa, we source one and quote it with your stay. Siyalima, the estate's flagship restaurant, serves lunch from Tuesday to Sunday, with ingredients grown in the estate's Harvest Garden.
Marks, and the Golf Bar
Marks, beside the wine cellar, has live piano at lunch and jazz from Friday to Sunday, with afternoon tea on the same three days. The Golf Bar is open every day from eight in the morning until nine at night.
The wine, and the cellar
The Wine Lounge occupies the estate's original cellar, built around 1870, and pours the Hazendal wines every day from ten until five. They are made here by cellarmaster Kiara Scott Farmer.

A day on the water
Hazendal keeps its own yacht, the Princess Eve, at the V&A Waterfront in Cape Town. You can add a cruise along the Atlantic seaboard for up to twelve of you, at an extra cost.

She finds places that live up to the photographs, and gets the less obvious things right: the location, the atmosphere, and how well a house works for the people in it.
Danny · God’s Window
She thinks of the things you'd never think to check. The layout, the views, whether a place feels too touristy. You can tell she books as if she were staying there herself.
Anna · Sublime Comporta
She has a knack for finding somewhere in the middle of everything that doesn't feel touristy. Hard to get once, let alone twice.

Questions about Hazendal Homestead

Why book through Padel Hideaways?

The villas are looked after by people who are particular about who they work with, and they work with us. That takes time to earn and it is why this collection grows slowly, a villa at a time.

The rate is the villa's own, and booking with us adds nothing to it: our commission comes from within what the villa already charges. The Concierge, Driver, Chef and Coach are quoted alongside it as one price, and we are on call for them all week. Every enquiry comes to us, so the person who answers is the person who arranges it.

Is there a security deposit at Hazendal Homestead?

The villa sets its own security deposit, and it is written into your agreement. We will give you the figure for your dates with your quote.

Can a bigger group stay at Hazendal?

Yes. The Hazendal Hotel is on the same estate, with 34 rooms: 22 of 42 square metres, nine larger rooms with terraces over the farm dam, two Junior Suites and a Presidential Suite. We quote the hotel rooms and the Homestead together for your dates.

When do we arrive, and can we book a shorter stay?

Check-in can be any day, with a minimum of two nights. Tell us your dates and we will confirm with the villa.

Which airport do we fly into for Hazendal Homestead?

Cape Town International (CPT), about thirty minutes away by road. Add the Driver and you are met at arrivals and driven in.

What comes with the villa, and what can I add at Hazendal Homestead?

The Homestead, yours alone, 5 suites for 10. Add the concierge, a driver, a chef and a coach and we plan the week and come back with one price.

What is added to the rate at Hazendal Homestead?

The rate includes VAT. We confirm any other charge, such as cleaning, with the villa before your quote is sent.

When do I pay for Hazendal Homestead, and what if we have to cancel?

25% of the total within 30 days of accepting the quote, and the balance 45 days before you arrive. A stay booked less than 45 days ahead is paid in full on confirmation. Within 45 days of arrival, or if the group does not arrive, the full amount is due. Over peak periods the estate may set its own payment and cancellation terms, and we confirm them with your quote.

Does Hazendal Homestead have its own padel court?

The court belongs to the estate, and a stay at the Homestead comes with time on it reserved for your group every day, enough to play morning and afternoon. It is a floodlit court in glass and black steel at the edge of the par-3 golf course, on a wine estate in Stellenbosch. Hotel guests and visitors book it outside your hours.

How much does Hazendal Homestead cost for ten people?

From R30,000 per night for the whole villa between May and September 2027, which is R3,000 each for ten. Until mid-December 2026, from January to April and from October to mid-December 2027 it is R35,000 per night, and R40,000 over Christmas and New Year. In euros that is about €1,500, €1,750 and €2,000 per night, confirmed at the rate on the day.
